Laura was born into a musical family, studying flute and piano from a very early age. One of her earliest achievements was winning Bury Young Musician of the Year in 2001.
Laura graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music in 2007 with a 2:1 (gaining a 1st in her final recital). She studied flute/piccolo and alto flute with Laura Jellicoe, Joanne Boddington and Anders Ljungar-Chapelon.
Whilst at the RNCM, Laura participated in masterclasses with Michael Cox, Clare Southworth, Pat Morris, Anders Ljungar-Chapelon, Daniel Pailthorpe and William Bennett.
Laura studied jazz flute and saxophone with her father, jazz saxophonist; Munch Manship. She studied musicianship and improvisation with bassist, Steve Berry and pianist Eileen Guppy, and was also lucky enough to perform with them in her final recital at the RNCM in June 2007.
At the Royal Northern College of Music, Laura was principal flute with RNCM symphony orchestra, RNCM opera orchestra and RNCM chamber orchestra on many occasions during 2005-2007. She also performed (Flute, Piccolo and Alto flute) with RNCM Wind orchestra and RNCM Symphonic Wind Band on numerous occasions between 2003-2007.
From 2005, Laura had subsidiary vocal lessons with Thomas Schultze at the Royal Northern College of Music. In February, 2006 she made her debut performance with the RNCM Big Band as a featured vocalist, working with composer/sampler, Matthew Herbert.
Throughout her time at the RNCM, Laura appeared in several concerts with the RNCM Big Band and also the RNCM jazz collective group, under the direction of saxophonist, Mike Hall.
Laura is principal flute with the National Concert Orchestra and has recently been on a UK tour with NCO (principal flute) as part of Bat the Symphony (a Steve Steinman production).
Earlier this year Laura was on a UK tour with The British Philharmonic Orchestra (principal flute) as part of Channel 5's Milkshake! Live 'My First Christmas Carol Concert 2008' tour. This tour also included a performance (principal flute) with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
Laura also enjoys performing around the UK as a soloist and with various ensembles.
